Hospital houses heartless teen
2008 November 20
Oh my God, you guys. This would be too freaking weird.
A 14-year-old girl lived in Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami without a heart in her chest for over 100 days. Her first transplant didn’t take, so doctors constructed a “heart” out of some fabric, some pumps, and a paperclip. [Okay, maybe not a paperclip.] They kept her blood pumping until she was stable enough to receive a second transplant.
